The logo as EPS, for a printer who asks for one
Web Summit's exhibition-board form asks for an .eps logo and says anything else will be
pixelated when printed. It is the third time this month somebody has asked for a format this site
did not have, so it is now on the brand page↗ with the rest: four files, and
the script that writes them.
They are real vector, and the lettering is outlined. An EPS that names a font is an EPS that
looks different on somebody else's RIP, and we never see that proof — so the RM and the wordmark
are converted to outlines and no font is referenced anywhere in the files. Nothing is painted behind
the artwork either, so it drops onto whatever ground the board uses. The letterforms are
Geist↗, which this site already self-hosts under the SIL Open Font License,
which permits embedding outlines and travels with the font files in the repository.

Written by a script rather than drawn by hand, so the next size or variant is a line of code
rather than an afternoon: scripts/site/render-brand-eps.py reads the same geometry the SVG
carries, takes the glyph outlines out of the hosted Geist files at weight 700, and writes
DSC-conformant EPS with an exact BoundingBox. It needs fonttools and brotli, which are not
dependencies of the site — nothing here is built at deploy time and the outputs are committed.
Proofed rather than assumed. Every file was rasterised back with Ghostscript and checked
against the current mark: the RM lands at 21.1% of the tile's width against the current PNG's
21.0%, the cap height within 0.4 of a percentage point, and the vertical centre within 0.2. All four
parse with no errors and reference zero fonts. One thing that fell out of doing the measurement:
riskmandate-mark-512.png and riskmandate-mark-128.png were exported before the mark was revised
on 14 September and show a wider RM than everything shipped since. They are left alone here rather
than quietly re-cut, and named so somebody decides.
