## The ladder has steps

The lead asked for the word *rung* to go when the deck was rebuilt for November: it is not a
common word, and it reads oddly, most of all to somebody reading in a second language. The deck
dropped it then and [How it works](how-it-works.html) never had it. It was still on eleven pages.

- **Every page now says *step*.** Describe it, licence it, insure it are steps one, two and three,
  and the first step is what is on sale. The eyebrows on [Licence to Operate](licence-to-operate.html)
  and [Insurance](insurance.html), the three cards on [Insure a program](insure-a-program.html),
  the heading on [Try it](try-it.html), and the sentence in the [article](article-what-is-an-abp.html)
  that says which one we are on.
- **Where *step* would have been wrong, a different word.** On [Acceptable](acceptable.html) the
  word was naming an interval, so it now says *interval*. On [Brand](brand.html), *create or buy*
  is a choice between two ways in, not two steps. On the [ABP page](abp.html), the prescription is
  *the only one of the three with a score on it*.
- **The class names went too.** Nobody reads a class name, but the next person to search the
  repository for the word would, and would find it on every vault page. The print rules, the
  Index ladder's buttons and the vault stylesheet now say *tier* or *level*.
- **A test keeps it gone.** Any page, markdown twin or `llms.txt` that says *rung* fails the build,
  with the sentence in the message. The rule is also in the notes every agent reads first.

- **The Index ladder on [Insurance](insurance.html) has its colours back.** Checking the renamed
  buttons showed six empty boxes with pale text. The six level colours were defined on the old home
  page, and when the ladder moved to Insurance they stayed behind. They are now on the page that
  draws the ladder. This was broken before today, not by the rename.

What still says it, on purpose: the release notes, the brief register and a registered brief. They
are records of what was written on their date, and those are never rewritten.
