# 5. Business model

## Paid on demand, not by subscription

Players buy credits when they want them, for example £10 for 100, and spend them on processing: a lesson note, a match note, a briefing, a clip. What costs money to process is what gets charged. Nothing renews unless the player chooses to buy more. This follows the argument on subscriptions.sgit.ai: a subscription should be a discount for regular use, not rent on something ignored.

## What is sold

| Item | Price, as a hypothesis | Who sets it | Who is paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lesson note from a voice memo | 2 credits, about 20p | The operator | The operator |
| Match note or briefing | 1 to 2 credits | The operator | The operator |
| Processing a short clip | 10 credits, about £1 | The operator | The operator |
| Remote video review | £15 to £30 | The coach | The coach, less the operator's share |
| Drill plan or follow-up | £5 to £15 | The coach | The coach, less the share |
| Coach content, one item | £2 to £5 | The coach | The coach, less the share |

## Three ways to sell it

- **To players directly.** Players buy credits; their coaches record notes into their vaults.
- **Through coaches.** A coach includes notes in their lesson price and buys credits in bulk, as a reason to choose them.
- **Through clubs.** A club offers notes on every private lesson, for example as a small addition to the lesson price, and pays in bulk. The record still belongs to the player.

## The numbers, as hypotheses

At the calculator's defaults: 200 coaches, 15 private lessons a week each, 70 per cent with a note, 20p a note and 4p of model cost, six remote reviews per coach per month at £20, and a 15 per cent share.

- About 9,030 lesson notes a month, with about £1,445 of margin on them.
- About £3,600 a month from the share of reviews.
- About £5,045 a month for the operator, and about £102 a month of extra income per coach from reviews alone.

That is a small business at 200 coaches. It becomes a real one at a few thousand coaches, through clubs rather than one coach at a time, and it matters most to the coaches: the extra income is new, and it does not need a court.

## Racket and kit recommendations

Coaches recommend kit all the time. If any recommendation carries a commission, the note must say so, the way the demo's fourth lesson records that the coach has no interest. A recommendation the player cannot trust is worth nothing to anybody.
