Epic: the reading experience on every piece

The site exists to be read, and today one reader consumes most of it. Every piece (story, edition, history, map, signal, source page) must make three things obvious at a glance: what is the newsroom's chrome, what is the piece, and who wrote it; and must let the reader react (read, star, vote, note, memo) without leaving it.

Tasks: article sheet and byline, feedback on every piece, read-state buttons that say what they mean, side panels (peek a link, chat, feedback, maps), wider layout, screenshots and briefing cards.
